Children and adults of all ages are eligible to practice and compete with the team. Although the team may travel for special practices and competitions, our home practice site is in Solon, Ohio.
The coaching staff takes pride in creating personalized strategies to assist our athletes in achieving their own personal aspirations, whether it be a college scholarship, national championship or even that first flip!
ODL Team (Diving levels 1-6) All divers under 14yrs start here. This is a one hour class that meets at the Solon High School pool from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Students (all ages) may sign up for 1-4 days per week, Monday - Thursday. This class consists of divers ranging from no experience to several years of experience. The goal of this level is to learn the basic dive elements, including safety and performance of the different diving categories. These divers are labeled as a level 1 - 6 diver and will compete in the Ohio Diving League at their respective levels.
5 practice pass: $75
10 practice pass: $120
20 practice pass: $220
30 practice pass: $300
High School Team - This class is for High School aged divers only. This (competitive) group will concentrate mostly on learning the rules and dives necessary for High School District and State level competition. These divers are preparing for a rewarding and successful High School season as well as travel with the Flyers team as 1-meter divers only. This class will meet at the Solon High School pool Monday - Thursdays from 4:30 – 6:00pm.
The cost of this group is quarterly: $420 per/3 months *10 students max.
Travel Team - *This class is by invitation only. These divers choose diving as their primary sport and have a 90% mandatory attendance. Divers in this group will prepare for junior national competition on 1- and 3-meter springboards, platform, and prepare for a successful age group and college experience. Class times will be at the Solon High School pool Monday - Thursday from 6:30pm - 8:30pm and two 3-meter/platform practices with one day off per week.
The cost of this group is quarterly: $630 per 3 months *8 students max.
Pre-Travel Team -*This class is by invitation only. This group is geared toward, but not limited to, children ages 12 and under. This group is designed to integrate younger athletes that show the desire, ability, and willingness to train at a higher level. Travel Team members will be invited directly form this group (see Travel Team requirements). The minimum practice requirement is 4 days per week (max. 6 days/week), with a minimum of two days per week on 3-meter/platform & 2 days per week at the Solon pool. Class times will be at the Solon High School pool Monday - Thursday from 6:30pm - 8:00pm and two 3-meter/platform practices.
The cost of this group is quarterly: $520 per 3 months *4 students max.
Private lessons -are arranged on an individual basis, and available times will change throughout the year. Private lessons are $25 per 1/2 hour.
All divers on the American Flyers Diving Team must be active members of the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union). Travel Team & Pre-Travel Team divers must be active members of both US Diving and AAU. All divers are eligible to compete in the Ohio Diving League, US Diving invitationals, Junior Nationals, US Nationals and AAU nationals.
